Face Coverings for Summer Programs and CampsMonday July 12, 2021

Effective Monday July 12, the Schenectady City School District will follow the latest guidance released by the Department of Health regarding summer programming and camps.  This includes the following:

  • Unvaccinated children/campers are strongly encouraged but not required to wear face coverings indoors as feasible, especially when social distancing cannot be maintained.

  • Face coverings must be worn on school buses, regardless of vaccination status.

  • Unvaccinated staff are required to wear a face covering at all times while indoors.

  • Face coverings are not required outdoors.

  • Face coverings may be necessary, both indoors and outdoors, when physical distancing of three feet is not possible.
While the guidance does provide flexibility regarding face coverings, Schenectady County Public Health Services strongly encourages the continued usage of face covering for unvaccinated children when indoors.   Not wearing a face covering indoors increases the risk of mandatory quarantine for unvaccinated individuals if a students in a classroom tests positive.

This applies to summer programming only.  Guidance for September 2021 and the opening of school has not been released yet.  We will share updates as they become available.
